Aruba: Steeped In Rich History
Today everyone talks about Aruba as one of the party capitals in the world but there’s a lot to explore here, especially for history and art lovers. That’s because this island has a rich heritage that dates back to well before 1499, when it was discovered and claimed by Spain. The Dutch then acquired it in 1636 and have left an indelible mark on the local culture since. It seems the locals have integrated all the fascinating aspects of different traditions and cultures to make this autonomous member of Netherland’s kingdom a truly unique place that holds a charm for travelers.
