What do they speak in Aruba?

Aruba is a small island nation on the Caribbean Sea that is a very popular destination for holiday makers from all over the world. Papiamento and Dutch are the official languages of Aruba. According to a census in 2000, 69.4% of Aruba’s population speaks Papiamento, a Creole language with roots to the Portuguese language that is influenced by Dutch / Spanish / African and English language. Apart from Papiamento, 13.2% of people speak Spanish, 8.1% speak English and 6.1% Dutch. Papiamento is the language that is used by most of the newspapers in Aruba. Even Parliament meetings are conducted in Papiamento.
