The restaurants on Aruba are of such a wide and vast variety that no matter what your palate's preferred taste, you will find a restaurant that will satisfy your taste buds.

The variety of restaurants includes American, Argentinean, Aruban, Caribbean, Chinese, Dutch, Fast food, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, International, Jamaican, Japanese, Mexican, Portuguese, Seafood, Spanish, Steakhouse and Thai. This means that if you want to try new things while you are enjoying the beauty and diversity of Aruba, you have a host of restaurants to choose from. But if you also want to stick to what you know then the chances that you will find the restaurant that makes that home cooked meal are huge!

One would recommend trying the Aruban cuisine because cuisine makes up a large part of any foreign culture. The food in Aruba is heavily influenced by the sea resulting in fish often being the main ingredient in any dish. For example, conch, grouper and mahi-mahi were all included in the staple diet of the original island fishermen of Aruba. This influence has been put into the more traditional meals and herbs that are indigenous to Aruba are often included in traditional as well as more modern meals to accentuate the flavour of the food.

The restaurants on Aruba serve food through the day thus allowing you to choose which meal you want to go to a restaurant for or if you are going to eat all your meals out. At least there will be no dishes to wash.

In terms of location of the restaurant, one can also choose if the island feeling has taken over and dining on the beach is the order of the day or if a more formal feel is preferred then that can also be accommodated.

The choice of restaurants on the beach includes The Old Man and The Sea Restaurant, Simply Fish and The Flying Fishbone if dining next to the waves is what you are after. Should you wish for a more formal dining venue, some choices include Amazing, Ruinas del Mar and Windows on Aruba to name a few.

Restaurants in Aruba are also wheelchair friendly but if you are unsure if the restaurant you have chosen has wheelchair facilities, it is always best to call ahead and confirm.

The menus in the restaurants will more often than not cater to many tastes but will also cater to vegetarians. More and more people have chosen to follow a vegetarian diet and as such, restaurants are starting to recognize the importance of catering to these patrons.

Some of the restaurants also offer "Happy Hour" where specials are run on specific beverages and often complimentary snacks are served. This is usually aimed at tourists who would want to try the local cocktails that they normally wouldn't drink at home.

In short, no matter what your taste, the restaurants on Aruba will satisfy your hunger for that familiar home cooked taste or the adventure of the unknown in Aruban cuisine.

Just a day at the office...

I always thought that Aruba has great restaurants. It's good to hear that even the vegetarians have places in the island. "They serve cocktails that tourists wouldn't drink at home". This is very interesting. What kind of cocktail do they have? :)

The "happy hour" looks like the best part for me. When is the time for happy hour? Does all of the restaurants in Aruba participate in the said event? I'm a bit curious.
