A Challenging and Rewarding Travel Option

Some people are simply not satisfied with a week's vacation in an island paradise such as Aruba. No, these people wish to extend their stay as long as possible to allow them to truly get to know the Aruban culture and people. But of course an extended stay in a foreign country can be quite the drain on the pocket book. Fortunately, there are solutions to this. Consider working in Aruba and finding an apartment to live in rather than staying in a hotel or hostel for long periods of time, which can get really expensive. You can save a lot of money by renting a furnished apartment month by month. This will also allow you to cook at home if you have a working kitchen and will avoid the high expenses of eating out for every meal. Over time, you will also learn where to go to get the best deals and gain confidence bargaining with the locals, which will also cut your costs. Not only will you be saving money on all your living expenses, but because you will be working in Aruba, you will be making money as well.

There are many jobs in the tourist industry and hotel and restaurant industries in Aruba. Many employers are interested in hiring native English speakers who can effectively interface with the tourists who visit the Caribbean island and don't understand the native languages of Aruba . With the right resume and a little tenacity, you can get a job just about anywhere.

Of course there are laws in place that prevent just anyone, especially foreigners, from working in Aruba. Any foreigner wishing to get a job in Aruba must have a written permit signed by Directorate of Alien Integration, Policy and Admission. It's illegal to work while visiting Aruba as a tourist. The necessary permit is filed by the prospective employer, who also pays for all the filing feels that go along with the permit process. The permit is valid for up to a year and can be renewed at that point.

You will need several documents to submit with the permit if you are considering working in Aruba. You will need a certificate from the police station in the county where you are from showing a criminal record clean of any major crimes and a medical certificate from a doctor indicating that you have no contagious diseases or mental illness. There may be a lot of paperwork, but working in a foreign country will be a rewarding experience.
