The Aruba Donkey Sanctuary was created by beachcomber
A place often missed by tourists to Aruba is the Donkey Sanctuary. It was set up to protect the wild donkeys that roamed the island which were being injured in accidents as the tourist population increased. It is located on the border of Arikok National Park. You will need to rent a 4X4 to get there.

Are there any tours to the Donkey Sanctuary? I know my wife would love to see all of the donkeys. She has a fondness for animals, especially horses and donkeys.

That's great info, thanks. I didn't even know before that there are wild donkeys in Aruba. Do you mean they are really wild, roaming around the island with nobody owning them? How many wild donkey are estimated to be there?

Well that's definitely something the kids traveling with us would like to see! They love animals of all kinds. We will definitely be adding this to our list of things to see and do while in Aruba!
