I like to travel with both. I travel with some cash which I do conceal. I also travel with at least 2 credit cards kept in different locations so that if one is stolen I can cancel it of course but I still have another to use.
I almost always carry a little cash on me, not a great deal of course unless I am going to a casino or somewhere that requires a "tip" for services. I have been stuck without cash before and since that one mistake I refuse to do it again.
