Is there much public transit in Aruba, and is it safe for tourists to use? I plan on renting a car, but I think it is important to experience public transit at least once in the trip. I want my kids to see what its like, but is it safe?

I had fun riding Aruba bus from Oranjestad to San Nicolas. I tried for a new experience. It was a long hour ride but I was not bored. I took lots of pictures of nice spots from the window of the bus. You can try it too.

I love taking the bus around countries, it allows you to see so much more while travelling. When you are flying you can't see anything, but on the bus you get to meet local people and see the scenery pass by.

Several years ago my husband and I travelled to Chile, South America. The local buses were very inexpensive so we would just get on a bus and ride it to the end of its route. Then we would get back on another bus that was returning and get off where we got on. It was safe and a great way to see the country.
