We will be travelling with dollars. What is the currency in Aruba? If it is different, where can we get our money exchanged. Is the exchange rate favorable for dollars?

Aruba's currency is the Aruban Florin. The easiest way to handle your money is with your debit card. Check with your bank to see if yours will work in the tellers on the island. If it will, you can exchange your dollars straight through the teller.

They also accept the US dollar pretty much everywhere in Aruba. I don't know what the exchange rate is right now if that saves you money or not. But would be worth it to know.

With theft being a problem on the island, I would think that it might be safer to just use the ATM machines and not carry a lot of cash around.

Yeah you can use the ATM too. And every place accepts credit card as well. Though some credit card companies charge a fee for using the card outside the us even though it is paid in American dollars.

Using the ATM is really the most efficient thing to do when you are there. I don't like to use credit cards because of the fee they charge with every purchase.
