Allowance for Souvenirs in Aruba was created by constancia
My husband and I are wondering how much we should plan to spend on souvenirs while we are in Aruba. Are there any special types of things that visitors look forward to purchasing there?

I like their art work. They make some really need maps that cost about 20 USD. I could spend a fortune on souvenirs but I try to budget about 50 USD for things like that.

What ever you do don't spend more than $800 or you are going to have problems when you try to leave Aruba. Any amount from 20-100 will leave you with lots of souvenirs. But once you see their prices at brand name you might be tempted to buy more. So make sure the total expense of what you want to bring back doesn't go over $800 and KEEP receipts.

I have never kept receipts. Of course I have never taken anything expensive with me that could me mistaken for an Aruban good and never spend that much on them there. Haha, if i only had that sort of money!

I keep mine. I don't have $800 to spend on things I will bring back. I only wish that I did! I hear that they are very strict with this policy as well.

Is it very much of a hassle to register things with customs and what really happens when you go over $800. Does that just mean that you will have to pay a duty fee on it?
